Liz is a former Registered General Nurse (RGN) and a Microsuction Specialist, who qualified in 2008 from Plymouth University. She then went on to complete her General Practice Nurse Foundation Course in 2010, again with Plymouth University. Later that year she completed her National Diploma in Primary Ear Care, in Rotherham followed by their Trainer’s Course in 2012.
The Primary Ear Care and Audiology Services, NHS Foundation Trust, Rotherham, is the centre of excellence for all thing ‘Ear Care’ in Great Britain. They set the standards for all Ear Care health in the country which is endorsed by the Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP), the Royal College of Nursing (RCN) and the Medical Devices Agency (MDA). Liz is one of Rotherham’s Primary Ear Care Centre’s National Trainers, (see: www.earcarecentre.com).
She now teaches ‘Ear Care’ for Plymouth University to NHS personnel in both GP practices and Hospitals, Ministry of Defence and Her Majesty’s Prison Service establishment medical personnel. These include Registered Nurses, Audiologists, Health Care Assistants and Assistant Practitioners. She is therefore, well qualified to look after YOUR ears.
Liz is now branching out into the private sector as ear care within GP practices is sadly declining due to cost – but there is a firm need for the service as poor hearing reduces the quality of a patient’s life though the isolation and depression it causes.
Her main interest and focus will always be in ‘making her patient’s tomorrow better than their today’. She is proud to have maintained the ethos of the ‘old-school’ values of respect, courtesy and compassion, even in today’s modern world of nursing. She is also extremely proud to be associated with, and trained by the Primary Ear Care Centre experts in Rotherham. She wears with pride, the badge only awarded to those who achieve their Diploma in Ear Care.
